Bienvenidos! In case you haven't figured out I am a Latina. That can encompass many ethnic groups. I am Mexican-American and was born in Silver City, New Mexico. I lived in that area until I was seven, then moved with my family to Las Cruces, New Mexico until 1983. I now live in Arkansas where there is a thriving Latino population
I was born Teresa Horcasitas Contreras. The following is a break-down of my descendants:
Horcasitas Family
Frank Horcasitas married [name unavailable]. From that union produced Juanita, Prajeres, Paz, George, Onofre and Francisco. Francisco married Leocadia Parra and had Porfirio/Juan, Venancia/Magdalene, Juana, Rumaldo, Luisa, Miguel, Pablo and Jose Maria [maternal grandfather].
Jose Maria Horcasitas married Adela Lucero [maternal grandmother] and from that union produced Rita (deceased), Margaret (deceased), Elizabeth (my godmother), Willie (deceased), Freddie (deceased) and Connie [my mother, also deceased].
Connie Horcasitas (deceased) married Samuel Rodriguez Contreras (deceased) and had Samuel Jr. [my brother], Teresa [me] and Mary Elisa [my sister].
Contreras Family
Arquelina R. Contreras [paternal grandmother] was born May 26, 1899 in San Isidro de las Cuevas, Estado de Chihuahua, Mexico to Eugenio Rodiquez and Dolores Elorriaga Rodriquez. She came from a family with a Christian background as well as an educational one. Her father was a Congregational Minister en Valle de Zaragosa and a teacher en Las Cuevas area.
While in Casas Grandes, Arquelina met Franciso L. Contreras [paternal grandfather] whom she married on March 23, 1916 in El Paso, Texas at La Iglesia Congregacional by the Rev. John Howland. From this marriage 15 children were born...including my father (Samuel Rodriquez). My paternal grandmother's descendants came from Tepic, Spain where they lived but other descendants came from Warsaw, Poland.
